So, I was thinking today about why politics and being involved in political discussions makes me so uneasy and ready to STOP talking about politics. I think I figured it out. For the most part politics divides us. Republican, Democrat, Independent, Conservative, Liberal, Pro Choice/Pro-Abortion, Pro-Life, etc and whatever. We talk about a new president, mayor, or whomever FINALLY being the one to unify us. To get all the other politicians to work together for.... But for the most part, it doesn't happen. Problem is, I think it never will. This side of heaven, there will always be division. Diversity can be a good thing, but division is not.
So why do I put this on the FLUID blog? Because I want to understand what those folks who are different than me think. I want to know why they think the way they do. I want to get it- so I can see past the labels I listed above. Too often we catagorize, politicize, and say "them" and "our side" instead of seeing people. I think of the guy after the LA riots in the 90's- "Can't we all just get along?"
So while I watch the political hoo ha on tv I hope to be reminded that we are all sinners. We all have ideas that later we think were pretty bad ideas. And Pray for those whose ideas don't align with God's word- His Truth, and His plan. Simply that they would get it. And I pray that for myself. That I would see people as God sees them. Simply that.
How would that change what we think when we see the speeches and nightly news?....
